    They are designed to relieve pressure when a fluid exceeds a preset limit (set pressure). Its mission is to prevent lost or explosion protected system or failure of equipment or pipe by excess pressure. There are also valves which relieve fluid pressure when the temperature (and therefore pressure) exceeds a set limit.
